Peeled Broad Beans

There’s no need to waste any more time peeling your broad beans with Mill-Kċina taz-Zija Peeled Broad Beans – freshly peeled and ready to use. Simply thaw and serve them or cook and add to stews, salads, bruschetta, or side dishes.

Available in 450g and 900g packs.

Peeled Broad Beans & Peas (NEW)

The Peeled Broad Beans & Peas mix is a new addition to the Mill-Kċina taz-Zija range. Fresh, conveniently Peeled Broad Beans and Peas make a great mix to add to your favourite dishes, or serve as a side dish.

Artichoke Heart Quarters (NEW)

Removing artichoke hearts is a long and tedious task. Not to worry, we’ve done all the preparation for you. These artichoke heart quarters are frozen and ready to use in a variety of dishes, salads, pasta, stews, etc.

Artichoke Heart Quarters, Peeled Beans & Peas (NEW)

Our Mill-Kċina taz-Zija Artichokes, Broad Beans and Peas mix contains artichoke heart quarters, peeled broad beans and peas. This mix is ready to use in a variety of dishes, salads, pasta, stews, etc.

There’s no need to remove the artichoke hearts and peel the broad beans, we’ve done all the preparation for you.

Minestra

Minestra is a traditional Maltese vegetable soup, popular in winter months. Our Minestra is a mix of frozen vegetables and pulses containing all the typical ingredients found in a traditional Maltese Minestra.

No need to peel and cut a ton of vegetables, we’ve done all the preparation for you.

Lasagne Bolognese

Mill-Kċina taz-Zija Lasangne is frozen cooked egg pasta, filled with tomato and meat sauce, besciamella sauce and topped with cheese.

A delicious meal that is quick and easy. Just pop it in the microwave for 8 minutes and enjoy!


RECIPES


KUSKSU BIL-FUL
Serves 4 people
Ingredients
200g onions
Garlic
450g peeled broad beans
Finely chopped celery
1tbsp tomato paste
1 litre water or stock
150g ‘kusksu’ (see note below)
4 fresh cheeslets
1tbsp olive oil
Grated cheese
Method
Peel the onions and garlic and chop them finely.
In a large pot, lightly fry the onions and garlic until they soften.
Add tomato paste, beans and stock/water to the onions and garlic.
Add the ‘kusksu’ and continue simmering for about 12 minutes. Add the fresh cheeselets.
Add seasonings and serve with grated cheese.
Note: Kusksu is a Maltese traditional type of fine pasta, larger than couscous.

RICOTTA PIE WITH BROAD BEANS AND PEAS
Serves 4 people
Ingredients
 500g short crust / puff pastry
2 eggs, beaten
3 fresh white cheeselets
400g ricotta
250g frozen peeled broad beans and peas
Salt & pepper
Method
Preheat oven to 180°C.
Take a little more than half of the pastry and roll it out onto an ovenproof dish.
In a large bowl mix the ricotta, cheeselets and beaten eggs.
Mix in the peeled broad beans and peas and season with the salt and pepper.
Pour the mixture over the dough-lined dish and spread evenly.
Cover the dish with the remaining rolled out pasty and gently sealed the sides with a fork.
Prick the top of the pastry several times with a fork and brush the top of the pie with egg or milk.
Place in the oven and cook for 40 minutes or until golden brown.
Leave to rest before serving.
